The town of Dubno, Ukraine, has been implementing thermal refurbishment works in four educational institutions, within the framework of the EU programme ‘Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects’ and the project ‘Warm schools and preschools as the pre-condition of children’s health: A comprehensive project in raising energy savings of educational institutions of the town of Dubno’. Thanks to the project, the buildings’ CO2 emissions will be cut by 41 tonnes a year, and they will save over 135,000 kWh/year on heat and electricity.

The thermal modernisation works in Preschool No. 4 are almost complete. The same refurbishment is also planned for Secondary School No. 7 and School No. 6, which will be equipped with a new boiler that uses alternative fuels as well as new external heating networks. The educational institutions will also receive new windows and doors, wall insulation, new roofs and other improvements.
