Belarus: Best Event Ideas Competition on energy conservation “The young generation shaping the vision for a green recovery”

The “Covenant of Mayors - East” project together with the “Interakcia” Foundation announces a Best Event Ideas competition on energy conservation «The young generation shaping the vision for a green recovery». Competition is dedicated to the annual Sustainable Energy Week (#EUSEW2020) and lasts from the 15th through 24th of June.

Objective
The competition is designed to identify active representatives of local authorities and state institutions that will offer innovative creative ideas for youth events on the International Energy Saving Day on November 11, 2020
Main topics: energy conservation, renewable energy and climate protection, as well as the transition to clean energy and clean recovery after the COVID-19 crisis. Activities should be related to the participation of the city in the Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy.

Who can take part?
Representatives of local authorities and state institutions from cities that have signed the European initiative “Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy”.

How to apply?
To participate in the contest, the Participant / Team of participants must send a description of the idea / concept of the event to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by June 24 (18:00) (application) or respond in the form of an electronic application.
One Participant / Team of participants can send a maximum of 3 ideas / concepts, each in a separate email.

Time frame
Submission of applications - until June 24, 2020
Evaluation of applications by the jury - June 25
Awarding prizes (for ideas) - June 26
Transfer of promotional products and award ceremony (for organised events) - November 2020

Prizes
Participant // A team of participants who took 1st place The winner of the 1st place will be awarded a bicycle (equivalent to 1800 Belarusian rubles), 2nd place - an electric scooter (equivalent to 900 Belarusian rubles), 3rd place - a set of blogger for online broadcasts (equivalent to 560 Belarusian rubles). All organizers who submit applications are provided with information support and promotional products for the event on November 11, 2020.

It brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power.

Covenant of Mayors East (CoM East) is the EU-funded Project aimed at bringing together local and regional authorities of the Eastern Partnership countries in implementing sustainable energy policies, reducing their dependence on fossil fuels, increasing security of energy supply and facilitating the global movement on climate change mitigation. Out of more than 368 communities from the Eastern Partnership countries 48 Belarusian local government bodies committed themselves to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to 20% or 30%.
